John Busby
John Busby studied at both Leeds and Edinburgh Colleges of Art. He has exhibited widely, with solo shows at The Scottish Gallery, Edinburgh as well as a retrospective exhibition at Cartwright Hall, Bradford in 2000. He is now lives near the Firth of Forth and the Bass Rock, Scotland.

He has been involved with the Artists for Nature Foundation since its inception in 1991 and has taken part in projects in Poland, Spain, Portugal, India, and Ireland. Not only is John a prolific practising artist he is also an associate of the Royal Scottish Academy and a founder member of the Society of Wildlife Artists.

John has illustrated over thirty natural history books including Oxford University Press’s ‘The Penguins’, several Poyser titles as well as several bird watching guides for Arlequin Press. Alongside these commissions John has also produced illustrations for Wild Horses a collection of forty poems by Kenneth Steven; published by St. Andrew Press. His own books include two editions of ‘Drawing Birds’ (the second edition is due out in the summer of 2004) and ‘John Busby: Nature Drawings’.

His travels have been dictated by his passion for sea birds. Destinations have included the Shetland Isles, New Zealand, The Falklands and Galapagos Islands along with a shared expedition to Aldabra Island with Bryan Nelson in 1974
